Why does everyone say ALL gold that is magnetic is fake ?
24k is pure gold and is not magnetic, it actually just barely repels it, but 14k, 12k and 10k all have alloys added for strength. Mostly used as alloys are copper nickel silver & zince which are also non magnetic but there are Small percentage of chains and rings out there (older usually) that have iron as an alloy. Iron is magnetic and if 14k is 58% gold that leaves 42% or more metals and over half in 10k that are unaccountable for! I've had 14k necklaces stick to magnets and pass a acid test. What do you think ?
